Share a notebook
Give contacts or groups access to your notes.
In a notebook’s ⋯ menu (as its owner), choose Share notebook. You can invite by email, or pick from your contacts and groups. People with access see the notebook in their library, marked “Shared with you”.

Choosing what each person can do is a Modo Pro feature. Without it, anyone who receives a shared notebook can edit it.
Before inviting, choose what the person will be able to do: Can edit or View only. Someone on view only reads everything but cannot write, rename or create pages — the notebook opens for them marked View only and without the formatting bar. You can switch later, in the list of people with access.
Note
The role is per notebook. Someone can tick items on one of your lists and, at the same time, only read the notebook linked to that list — which is how you keep a reference notebook nobody changes.
Share with a group
When you pick a group of contacts, the share is tied to the group and follows it: whoever joins later gets the invitation on their own, and whoever leaves loses access. You don’t have to share again every time the team changes. The list of people with access shows the group — not each person — with the role and how many they are right now.
Tip
An invitation sent to someone individually is not removed when they leave the group — the two kinds of access are independent.
The other person decides
Inviting does not put the notebook into anyone’s account. The person receives it in the notification bell, with Accept and Decline — the notebook only appears in their library once they accept. Until they decide, they have no access to the content. You are notified when someone accepts.
Tip
If someone declines, the invitation disappears and you can invite them again later.
Note
If a shared list is linked to a notebook, the members of that list can automatically open the associated notebook.
Support note
If you invite someone who doesn’t use Totil yet, we send an email invitation; access becomes available once that person creates an account.
