Lists that repeat

Some lists you do over and over: the weekly shopping, the Saturday clean, the start-of-month routine. Instead of creating them again or unticking everything by hand, you can tell Totil how often the list starts over.

When the day comes, every task goes back to “to do” and the list is ready to use again, with everything you had in it — names, sections, notes and labels.

Turn repeating on

• When you create the list — in New list, under Repeat.
• On a list you already have — from the list’s ⋯ menu, under Edit list → Repeat.

Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Custom (every N days, weeks, months or years).

Choose when it starts over

Next you say which day the cycle turns over on. What you’re asked depends on the frequency you chose:

The next restart date always shows below (“Restarts on 10 Aug”), and the list header starts showing, for example, ↻ Weekly · restarts tomorrow — so you know at a glance that this list renews itself.

What happens to dates and reminders

• All tasks go back to to do (even the ones in progress).
• Dates move to the next cycle, keeping the same day. On a monthly list, what was set for the 11th stays on the 11th.
• Reminders follow along, at the same time you had set.
• Tasks with their own recurrence aren’t touched — they already renew by themselves.

Repeating travels too: if you save the list as a template or duplicate it, the copy keeps the same repeat, counted from the day you created it.

To turn it off, go back to Edit list → Repeat and choose No repeat. The list stays exactly as it is, losing nothing.
