Add and edit items
Type what you need to do and open each item’s details to add a note, date and status.
Add an item
- In the list, tap + Add item, type the text and press Enter. The focus stays so you can type the next item right away.
- You can also use + New → New item (or the floating + on phone).
- On a newly created list you don’t need to tap anything: the cursor is already in the box, waiting.
Note
On computer, the box sits in the list itself. On the phone it opens a panel next to the keyboard, with shortcuts for date, reminder, repeat and section — explained just below.
Type the date right in the text
Totil understands dates in plain language. If you type “Pay rent by the 8th” or “Call the doctor tomorrow at 3pm”, it saves the item with the right date (and time) and cleans up the text.
On the phone: the quick entry panel
On the phone, adding items opens a panel glued to the keyboard, with the text box always within reach. You type, press Enter (or the + beside it) and the item goes straight into the list — the panel stays open so you can type the next one. A whole shopping list gets done without lifting your finger off the keyboard.
Below the box there are four shortcuts, so you can add context without opening the details:
- Date — Today, Tomorrow, Next week, or a date from the calendar.
- Reminder — Later today, Tomorrow, Next week, or a day and time of your choosing.
- Repeat — Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.
- Section — which section of the list it goes in (you can create a new one right there).
The shortcut you pick turns green and stays on for the next items — if you’re putting everything down for Saturday, you pick the date once and type the rest straight through. The new item always stays in view, above the panel.
Tip
Tapping + Add item inside a section opens the same panel with that section already chosen. To close it, tap outside the panel (or press Enter with the box empty).
Web addresses
If you type a web address in an item’s text or note, Totil turns it into a clickable link — and shows it by the site name instead of the whole address, so it doesn’t blow up the line. An item with https://www.publico.pt/sti/16492034.html shows up simply as Publico.
The link opens in a new tab, and the full address shows when you hover over it (on the phone, by pressing and holding). It works in the list, on Control Centre cards, in the Table view and in an item’s steps.
An item’s quick menu
Right-click an item (on the phone, press and hold) to open a menu with what you do most often, without opening anything:
- Complete or Undo completion.
- Mark “In progress” or Take out of “In progress”.
- View details — opens the full panel.
- Move to another list… — pick the destination list and, if it has sections, the section. The item takes everything with it, including its steps.
- Delete item.
Edit an item
On the phone, tapping an item opens that same quick panel, already filled in: you change the name, date, reminder, repeat or section without leaving the list. If you need more, the All details button opens the full panel.
On computer, tapping the item text opens its Details in a panel on the right. In either one you can change:
- Title — the task name.
- Note — free text (for example, a quantity or a remark).
- When — the date and, if you want, the time and a period (see “Dates and deadlines”).
- Recurrence — repeat the task (see “Repeating tasks”).
- Status — To do, In progress or Done.
- Section — move the item to a section of the list.
Note
Changes save themselves as you type. The Close button just closes the panel. To remove an item, use Delete item inside the details, or the bin icon on the row itself (on computer).
Pro only
In Pro Mode, the details also gain Label, Assignee, Steps (a checklist inside the item), Start and end dates, Notebook linking and task History.
